Description

Industry Standard Interchangeable Pallet Rack

Interchangeable pallet racking has tapered, teardrop shaped punching on 2″ centers along the face of uprights and is easily added to existing installations of all manufacturers’ interchangeable uprights to replace damaged rack or expand warehouse systems.

Interchangeable beams attach to the teardrop shaped keyholes of upright columns with riveted studs and patented automatic beam locking devices.  The UNARCO Gravity Lock floating pin and the UNARCO Push Lock plunger style lock, require no tools or hardware.  Roll-formed step beams are available in heights from 2.5″ to 6″ in many different gauges.

Building officials throughout the United States are well-acquainted with the Interchangeable racking because of its ease of use and secure fastening.   The Push Lock makes a clicking sound when the beam is properly seated and the Gravity Locking pin’s conical shape keeps the beam secure.

UNARCO offers the versatile option of side holes in the uprights which allow for pallet racking accessories, such as row spacers or Versa Racking shelf clips, to attach. As with the teardrop punching, side holes are on 2″ centers. Interchangeable pallet racking uprights can also be punched with slotted side holes to accommodate UNARCO’s popular UPICK carton flow system.

Interchangeable pallet racking uprights are available in a variety of sizes for every range of capacity in both open- and closed-tube designs. Superpost Closed tube uprights offer 30-40% greater load capacities than same-gauge, open-back design uprights and resist frontal impact up to five times more than a structural column.

UNARCO has Pallet Rack options for every size warehouse or distribution center.

Beam Options from 2.5″ to 6″ Tall

UNARCOInterchangeable pallet racking beams are one-piece support beams for which are roll-formed and continuously welded for durability and a smooth finish on all sides. The full range of lengths spanning from 36″-192″ is manufactured with different gauges to match the capacity you need with affordable pricing.

UNARCO offers a variety of height and gauge Interchangeable pallet racking beams to accommodate warehouse storage flexibility, including low-profile beams as shallow as 2-1/2″ high up to the sturdy 6″ high profile for longer lengths and heavy loads.

The 1-5/8″ vertical step design allows you to use standard-size wire decking or lumber to create shelves.   Due to UNARCO’s  2-3/4″ overall depth, the horizontal 1″ ledge offers a sizable surface to support decking material, loads and crossbar ties. Tight manufacturing bending tolerances are held for a crisp shape with uniform proportions.

Beams are welded robotically and in special semi-automatic fixtures for smooth seams and a finished look.  Special seismic welding patterns on beams can be ordered to accommodate local and national building code demands.

UNARCO can manufacture beams with integrated center punching or intermittent punching for special locking crossbars.

UNARCO manufactures a roll-formed, continuously welded Interchangeable pallet racking beam to fit the profile of any warehouse storage criteria. From 2-1/2″ high to 6″ tall for the right capacity at the right price.

Upright Column Sizes and Shapes

Interchangeable Pallet Racking roll-formed upright columns are the sturdiest and most versatile in the industry; sturdy miter-cut bracing attached to the column helps prevent twisting and allows for a wider bracing section. Interchangeable pallet racking uprights are available in a large range of sizes and capacities to fit any warehouse need.

Computerized mills ensure that tolerances on all Interchangeable pallet racking uprights are precise and install with ease. The teardrop punching will accept most industry-standard Interchangeable pallet racking beams and can be manufactured with or without side holes. These side holes can facilitate bolting beams, row spacer installation, or attachment of accessories to help store or display awkward product.

The SuperPost closed-tube upright offers 30%-40% greater load capacities than the same gauge open back design of Interchangeable pallet racking uprights and over 200 times more resistance to torsional forces. Frontal impact resistance from the SuperPost upright is five times stronger than structural columns. In addition to their added strength, they offer a clean solution with no areas to trap dust and debris. A closed post upright solution is a safer and often more affordable answer to capacity needs and damage resistance requirements.

For the most difficult warehouse designs, UNARCO offers damage-resistantInterchangeable pallet racking add-ons to uprights to help guard against abuse. Integrated options, such as Double Column uprights which provide an additional backer or Front Straddle Protectors, offer added protection against accidental forklift impact.

UNARCO Interchangeable pallet racking upright sizes range from 3" x 1-5/8″ to 4"×3" and come in a variety of open and closed tube post sections.

Automatic Beam Locking Devices

Interchangeablepallet racking with teardrop shaped holes from UNARCO offers a variety of locking devices. Interchangeable pallet racking is the industry standard. Adding onto your existing interchangeable pallet racking from any manufacturer is easy; the patented Interchangeable Push Lock and Gravity Lock connections are easy to install and cannot be “sprung.” The Push Lock automatic plunger style locking device will work with any interchangeable rack.

Gravity Lock – Interchangeable Beam Locking Device

Relocating beams is a snap and requires no tools. The interchangeable locking pin is raised as the pallet rack beam is inserted and then will rest in place once the beam seats. The beam is locked and held in place by the force of gravity, even as forklifts or pallet loads below cause uplift. The locking mechanism is built into the interchangeable beam connector so it cannot be lost or misplaced.

The Gravity Lock is one of the few integrated locking mechanisms that can withstand the zinc coating, galvanizing bath. Since it is integrated into the beam connector, there are no outside operations or areas that are not zinc coated. This solution is the most environmentally friendly connection for outdoor garden centers and freezer and cold storage pallet rack applications.

UNARCO Gravity Lock Beam Connection

UNARCO offers a spring-loaded automatic locking device with tapered studs to fit every manufacturers’ interchangeable pallet racking. The UNARCO Push Lock will work with odd-shaped teardrop holes and tapered interchangeable pallet racking.

When the beam is inserted into the teardrop holes in the frame, the plunger locking mechanism “clicks” to let you know that your pallet rack beam is securely installed.

Pallet Rack Beam Connectors are available in bolted and automatic locking style designs.

  • Gravity Lock integrated connector

  • Push Lock plunger style automatic lock

  • Connectors with 2 – 6 studs available

  • All interchangeable beam connectors allow through-bolts for down-aisle support

  • Cold-headed steel studs keep beams engaged in the rack

Teardrop and bolted rack connectors are available in multiple heights and configurations. Beams can be mounted on the connectors to be flush with the floor for lower levels or flush with the top of the connector leaving a gap at the bottom beneath. Special connectors can be designed to meet stricter design codes or high seismic areas.

  • All capacities are expressed in pounds per pair of beams. Only gravity loading and the RMI required impact have been considered.

  • All values are based on a uniformly distributed load (i.e. each beam carries 50% of the load) and assume proper installation and no beam damage.

  • The deflection limit for all beams is the length divided by 180.

  • Roll-formed beams that are longer than 150” require lateral ties

Structural beams that are longer than 108″ can require lateral ties.

  • Values in the table are for the beam bending only.

  • Please consult Springfield, Engineering for any shelf load over 10,000 lbs.

  • Capacities include 12.5% impact for two pallets side by side. For a three-pallet-wide shelf, the values should be multiplied by 0.95. For one pallet per shelf, the values should be multiplied by 0.90.

  • Capacity chart is based on current RMI specifications.

UNARCO rack designs conform to the latest Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) specifications and American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Cold Formed Steel Design Manual.
